On our way back from Slovenia, we decided to spend two nights in Amsterdam. I’ll admit my expectations weren’t super high, but I still wanted to see the city for myself. At night we did all the classic touristy Amsterdam things, which were fun— but the real magic was in the morning. When the party crowd was still sleeping it off, the city transformed—bright, peaceful, and surprisingly clean. Below, I’ve shared my favorite recommendations and some photos that capture just how beautiful Amsterdam can be.
Hotel: We stayed in a great 5 star hotel, The Grand Amrâth which was super comfortable and even had a spa.

Recommendations:
Meals:
Breakfast at Baker’s and Roasters. We had a fabulous meal here.

Brunch at G’s which was an Atlanta Rap restaurant with menus on records.

Jordaan District:
I loved wandering the streets in this neighborhood, stopping at the shops and record stores. We went to the Lindenmarkt which is only open on Saturdays and bought cheeses to take home.

Canal Cruise: This was such a cool way to hear the history of Amsterdam and enjoy the sites.

Anne Frank’s Apartment: We weren’t able to do this as you have to book really far in advance.

Red light district: We arrived late to the city and both our uber driver and even the hotel concierge said we had to visit the red light district. It was fun, glad we did it and here’s a guide I found to match your experience with your comfort level.
